Ole Schemion Wins the Partouche Poker Tour Main Event

Since its inception back in 2008, the Partouche Poker Tour (PPT) has been one of the most eagerly anticipated fixtures in world poker.

Previous winners include Alain Roy, Jean-Paul Pasqualini, Vanessa Selbst and last year’s winner, Sam Trickett.

The two main reasons the tour is so popular are timing (the tour fits in nicely between EPT, WPT and WSOPE events) and the prize money (for example, Selbst won €1.3 million during her win in 2010).

But the 2012 PPT was plunged into controversy, after the organisers suggested that the advertisements for the €5 million guaranteed prize pool were misleading.

This prompted an angry reaction from the players and eventually the PPT agreed to honour the guarantee, but made a statement that this would be the last-ever PPT tournament.
Money wrangling apart, we still had a tournament to finish and a €1,172,850 first prize to hand to somebody.

That somebody was Ole Schemion, yet another talented German poker player to finally rise to prominence. Interestingly, Schemion was coming off the back of his most impressive achievement, after finishing in 9th place at the EPT Barcelona Main Event.

Schemion defeated Karen Sarkisyan, heads-up, to take home the title and €1,172,850 first prize, with Sarkisyan picking up €693,494 for his second place finish.

The hottest property in world poker eventually finished in seventh place for a €179,496 payday that now takes his 2012 annual income to over $3.5 million.
